Sanyu A. Mojola

Biography: Sanyu Mojola conducted her PhD work in sociology at the University of Chicago. Her current research considers why HIV rates among young African women aged 15-24 are 2-9 times higher than men in the same age group. She explores how these disparities are produced, examining the problem as one of “dangerous transition” from adolescence to adulthood. She focuses on social structural processes relating to the pursuit of education and employment, intimate relationships, money and consumption using a combination of qualitative and quantitative data. Her work has appeared in Population and Development Review.
