REQUIRED TEXT:             Kendall, Diana.  5th Edition. Sociology in Our Times.  Belmont, CA: Wadsworth.

 

COURSE GRADES:

Course grades will be determined on the basis of your average score from two midterms, the final exam, and your recitation grade.  Each exam accounts for 1/4 of your final course grade for a total of 3/4, and your recitation grade will account for 1/4 of your final grade.

 

            Midterms: There will be two midterm exams.  The midterms must be taken on the day, at the time, and in the place (FA N141) that they are scheduled.  Midterms cannot be taken early or late.  Midterms will consist of 50 multiple choice and/or True/False questions.  Midterms will cover only the required textbook readings and lectures (25 questions from each) for the section of the course they cover.  Each midterm will count towards 1/4 of your final grade.

 

            Final Exam: The final is REQUIRED and must be taken on the day, at the time, and in the place (FA N141) that it is scheduled.  The final cannot be taken early or late.  There is no make up for the final.  It will be a multiple choice and/or True/False exam with 100 questions, and it will count towards 1/4 of your final grade.  The final exam will be COMPREHENSIVE and cover all required readings and all lectures (50 questions from each).  Students who do not take the final will fail the course.  Note: At present, the final is scheduled for Wednesday, May 10th from 1:30pm-4:00pm.

 

            Recitation:  Requirements for recitation will be covered in recitation by your teaching assistant.  Your recitation grade will account for 1/4 of you final grade.

            –The final exam counts 1/4 more for each midterm exam missed.
