Overview:
The recitation section is designed to supplement the SOCY 1001 lecture material and
to provide a venue to discuss and explore material from the lectures and
assigned readings. The primary goal of the recitation is to encourage the
learning process through interactive feedback and discussion – thus your
preparation for and participation in each recitation session are critical to
your success as well as the success of everyone else in the classroom. In order
to create a comfortable and open environment where all members of the class are
willing to share their thoughts and ideas it is required that all students
behave in a respectful manner towards one another at all times. While
enthusiastic debate and discussion are essential, insensitive or rude comments
based on race, gender, class, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or
beliefs will not be tolerated at any time.
Grading: Recitation
is an integral part of this course as it is the primary place for small group
discussion of the lecture and reading material.
