COURSE GRADES:

Course grades will be determined on the basis of your average score from your best midterm exam score (your lowest midterm exam score will be dropped), the final exam, and your participation/performance during the in-class debates.  The exam average accounts for 3/4 of your final course grade and your debate participation/performance will account for 1/4 of your final grade.

Midterms: There will be two midterm exams.  The midterms must be taken on the day, at the time, and in the place (HUMN 1B90) that they are scheduled.  Midterms cannot be taken early or late.  Midterms will consist of a combination of multiple-choice, True/False, fill-in-the-blank, and short answer questions.  Midterms will cover only the required textbook readings and lectures for the section of the course they cover.

Debates: Students will be randomly assigned to debate groups.  Based upon class enrollment there will be 5 debates during the course of the semester.  Topics to be debated, assignment to groups, scheduling, specific requirements, etc. will be discussed in class.  The class debate will account for 1/4 of your final grade.

Final Exam: The final is REQUIRED and must be taken on the day, at the time, and in the place (HUMN 1B90) that it is scheduled.  The final cannot be taken early or late.  There is no make-up for the final.  The exam will be a combination of multiple-choice, True/False, fill in the blank, and short answer questions.  The final exam will NOT be comprehensive.  Students who do not take the final will fail the course.  Note: At present, the final is scheduled for Monday, May 8th from 10:30am-1:00pm.
