Undergraduate Honors Program in Sociology
Honors Program Overview:
Students
graduate with honors in sociology after the successful completion
and defense of an honors thesis. A thesis is a piece of original research
and writing on a topic chosen by the student and agreed upon by his
or her thesis advisor. Students typically enter the honors program
in the fall semester of their senior year, and take two semesters
of honors course credits (3 credits per semester). Each honors student
is responsible for identifying a faculty advisor who will serve as
their primary mentor. Students are expected to meet with their faculty
advisors on a regular basis throughout the year. In addition, honors
students meet monthly as a group (and with Dr. Reed) to identify
problems or concerns, chart progress, and provide support for one
another.

- Must be sociology majors
- Must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.3, with a sociology GPA equal to or higher than 3.3.
