SOCIOLOGY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
If you wish to participate in the Fall Semester 2009 internship program, applications are due May 1, 2009.
If you wish to participate in the Spring Semester 2010 internship program, applications are due November 1, 2009.

INTERNSHIPS IN THE SOCIOLOGY DEPARTMENT
Students interested in doing an internship may consider doing so through the Sociology Department. Course credit is available to those students that fulfill the requirements of the internship program. The process of applying for the internship program is described below. If you have any questions about the program after reading through all the information listed, please contact the internship director of the internship program,
THE APPLICATION PROCESS
1. Read through the internship course description and make sure you agree to and understand its terms.

2. Print out and complete the application for the Sociology Internship Program (see below). Once completed, return the application to Ms. Stanley. The application can be delivered to her mailbox in the copy room next to Ketchum 219. She will contact you to let you know whether you have been accepted into the program. Be sure to turn in your application by the above listed due dates.

3. If you have not already done so, choose a location for the internship. See below link for a list of potential locations. If you do not see something that is of interest to you, feel free to contact the organization(s) you have in mind to determine if they have an internship program available. Please note you are responsible for contacting the agency, setting up the internship, and ensuring that the internship director agrees that you have found an appropriate placement. Keep in mind that many organizations require that you complete training before the start of your internship, thus it is important to secure your internship well before the start of the semester. Please review the time requirements listed on the course description.

4. If you have been accepted into the Sociology Internship Program, download and fill out the Department of Sociology Internship Program Contract. The contract requires a signature from your internship location supervisor. *The completed application is due to Ms. Stanley on the first internship class meeting. No exceptions.*
SOCIOLOGY INTERSHIP PROGRAM CONTRACT
5. Participation in the internship program requires community and academic work. In addition to the hours you put in at your internship location, there are mandatory class meeting times and required scholarly work. Please see the below syllabus to give you an idea about class expectations (note: instructor reserves the right to change the syllabus).
